Moody decision for Kesampour

LEADING trainer Peter Moody is now considering a third option for the Australian debut for his French import Kesampour.
Moody had entered the five-year-old for last week’s Group 2 Lawrence Stakes over 1400 metres at Caulfield but bypassed that race and indicated that Kesampour would first step out in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes over 1600 metres at Flemington on September 7.
Moody is now contemplating a start in the preceding Saturday’s $120,000 Slickpix Stakes (1700m) on his home track.
“I’m actually tossing whether I kick him off in the 1700 or wait for the Makybe,” Moody said. “I’m not too sure.
“He’s ready to go, I’ll just see how the handicapper treats him in the 1700 Listed race next week. I might kick him off there.”
A winner at his first four starts in France before running to the front in the closing stages of the French Derby and holding on for a solid fourth.
Kesampour hasn’t started since he faded for a distant 13th in last year’s Arc De Triomphe but he is obviously a lot better than that and he is well up in the betting for the Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup.
